Although faced with the daunting task of facing Shaq and King James who are both hungry for another shot at the NBA Championship and looking to finish strong on opening night, the Celtics managed to hold the fort and squeeze in a win, thanks to their deep bench and reliable reserves. The Cavs opened with a daunting 17-4 lead in the first quarter and rendered the Celtics looking old and worn-out. And then Doc Rivers shuffled his guys and the game slowly turned around for the guys in green.

The deep pool of reliable guys and veterans like Marquis Daniels and Rasheed Wallace proved to be better than the bench warmers of the Cavs who still have to cohesively play together because of recent changes in their line-up with new players like Parker, Moon and O'Neal in the picture. After halftime, the Celtics found themselves leading 51-45. Despite the great game from LeBron with 38 points, 4 blocks, 4 rebounds and 8 assists and the intense crowd support and warmth graced to Shaq everytime he touched the ball, the Big Three found their rhythm and was soon back in their old championship form, piling up points while sharing the ball and delivering a tight D. They also shot the ball well, hitting 44.4% of their shots. It was a narrow and sweet victory but they still clinched game one and that says a lot against a top caliber team like the Cleveland Cavaliers.

I just hope that I finish all my custom term papers and other school requirements before the Celts and the Cavaliers lock horns again. The Cavaliers will be out with swords drawn and armed to the teeth and I just hope that the Big Three and the rest of the green squad are ready for the retaliation. 1-0 but there will be blood soon, trust me.
